Terms of Service

Last updated 25 August 2026

How songs are made, what you own, how billing works, and what each of us is responsible for. Written to be read rather than skimmed past.

1.Agreement to these terms

Build a Beat ("the Service") is operated by Currier Media Inc. ("we", "us", "our"). These Terms of Service form a binding agreement between you and us. By creating an account, making a song, or subscribing, you accept them. If you do not accept them, do not use the Service.

You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service, and at least the age of majority where you live to purchase a subscription. If you are under the age of majority, you may use the Service only with the involvement of a parent or guardian who accepts these terms on your behalf.

If you are using the Service on behalf of a company or other organisation, you confirm you have authority to bind it, and "you" means that organisation.

2.Your account

We sign you in using a code sent to your email address, so there is no password to manage. Keep access to that inbox secure: anyone who can read it can sign in as you.

You are responsible for all activity under your account. Tell us at tylercurrier@currier-media.com promptly if you believe it has been accessed by someone else.

You may not share, sell, or transfer your account, and you may not create an account using someone else's identity or email address.

3.How songs are made

You describe a musical style and, optionally, a subject or your own lyrics. We use third-party artificial intelligence models to write lyrics, produce audio, and generate cover artwork. Those models are operated by other companies and we do not control their internal behaviour, training data, or output.

Generative models are probabilistic. Two people submitting similar descriptions may receive similar results. We do not and cannot warrant that any output is unique, original in any legal sense, free of resemblance to existing works, non-infringing, or fit for any particular purpose. Listen to what you receive and decide for yourself whether it is suitable for your intended use.

We may change the underlying models, providers, generation settings, or output length at any time, including in ways that change the character or quality of results. Model names shown in the Service refer to our own configurations and not to any third party's product.

Output is generated on request and is not reviewed by a human before you receive it.

4.Rights in what you create

You retain ownership of the text you submit. You grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, and process that text and the resulting output for the purposes of operating, maintaining, and improving the Service, and, where you choose to share a song, of displaying it to people you share it with.

As between you and us, songs generated from your inputs are yours. On a paid plan that includes commercial use rights, you may reproduce, distribute, publicly perform, monetise, and create derivative works from those songs, including as background music, in video and audio productions, and in advertising.

On the free tier, your rights are limited to personal, non-commercial listening and sharing of the preview.

These rights are granted only to the extent we are able to grant them, and are subject to the rights of the model providers we rely on and to applicable law. We make no representation that any output is free from third-party claims. You are solely responsible for your use of any output, including clearing any rights that use may require.

We may use aggregated, de-identified information about how the Service is used to improve it. We do not claim ownership of your songs.

5.Acceptable use

You may not use the Service to create, upload, or distribute material that: infringes any copyright, trademark, publicity, privacy, or other right; impersonates a real person's voice, likeness, or identity without their consent; is defamatory, harassing, threatening, or hateful; sexualises minors; promotes violence, terrorism, or unlawful activity; or violates any applicable law.

You may not attempt to extract, reverse engineer, distil, or resell access to the underlying models; scrape or systematically download the Service; interfere with its operation; probe or test its security; or circumvent any limit, paywall, quota, geographic restriction, or redemption code.

You may not resell, sublicense, or provide the Service itself to third parties as a service without our written agreement.

We may investigate suspected breaches, remove content, and suspend or terminate accounts. Where a breach is serious, or where required by law, we may act without prior notice.

6.Subscriptions, billing, and renewal

Paid plans are subscriptions billed in advance, either monthly or annually, through our payment processor Stripe. The price and billing period are shown before you complete checkout. Taxes are calculated at checkout and added where applicable.

By subscribing you authorise us and our payment processor to charge your payment method on a recurring basis, at the interval and price shown at checkout, until you cancel. This authorisation continues for renewals at the then-current price for your plan.

Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period. You may cancel at any time; cancellation prevents the next renewal and your plan remains active until the end of the period you have already paid for. We do not provide partial refunds for unused time in a period except where required by law.

Each plan includes a monthly allowance of songs. Reaching that allowance stops further generation until the allowance resets; it does not cancel or pause your subscription and does not entitle you to a refund.

We may change prices. Price changes do not affect the period you have already paid for, and we will give at least 30 days' notice before a change applies to your renewals. Continuing after that notice period constitutes acceptance.

If a payment fails, we may retry it and may suspend access to paid features until payment succeeds.

Songs you have downloaded remain yours after cancellation. Full-length playback and downloads within the Service require an active plan.

7.Refunds and chargebacks

You can hear part of a song before paying anything, so we do not offer refunds for change of mind.

If the Service failed you, for example a song you paid for never rendered or was delivered corrupt, contact us at tylercurrier@currier-media.com and we will make it right, at our discretion by re-rendering, crediting, or refunding.

Where consumer protection law in your jurisdiction grants you refund or cancellation rights, those rights apply regardless of this section and nothing here limits them.

If you initiate a chargeback rather than contacting us, we may suspend your account while the dispute is resolved. We reserve the right to dispute chargebacks we believe are made in bad faith.

8.Free codes and promotions

Redemption codes grant time-limited access at no charge. They have no cash value, are not transferable or exchangeable, may be limited by number of uses or expiry date, and may be withdrawn.

We may deactivate codes that are published publicly, generated fraudulently, resold, or used to evade plan limits, and may reverse access obtained that way.

9.Copyright complaints

If you believe content on the Service infringes your copyright, send a notice to tylercurrier@currier-media.com including: your contact details; identification of the work you say is infringed; the link to the material in question; a statement that you believe in good faith the use is not authorised; and a statement that the information in your notice is accurate.

We will review notices promptly and may remove content and terminate accounts of repeat infringers.

10.Third-party services

The Service depends on third parties for model inference, hosting, payment processing, storage, and email. Their availability, terms, and behaviour are outside our control, and interruptions or changes on their side can interrupt or change the Service.

Your use of a third-party service reached through the Service, such as a payment page, is governed by that third party's own terms.

11.Availability and changes

We aim to keep the Service running but do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free availability. We may suspend it for maintenance, and may modify, limit, or discontinue features.

If we discontinue a paid feature you materially rely on, we will give reasonable notice and, where fair in the circumstances, a pro-rated refund of prepaid fees attributable to that feature.

12.Disclaimers

The Service and all output are provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express, implied, statutory or otherwise, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, non-infringement, and any warranties arising from course of dealing or usage of trade.

We do not warrant that the Service will meet your requirements, that output will be accurate, original, or non-infringing, or that defects will be corrected.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

13.Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total aggregate liability arising out of or relating to the Service or these terms is limited to the greater of the amounts you paid us in the twelve months preceding the event giving rise to the claim, or one hundred Canadian dollars.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost revenue, lost data, loss of goodwill, or business interruption, whether or not we were advised such damages were possible, and regardless of the theory of liability.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

14.Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Currier Media Inc., its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claim, demand, loss, liability, or expense, including reasonable legal fees, arising out of your use of the Service, your inputs or output, your breach of these terms, or your violation of any law or the rights of any third party.

15.Termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time.

We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these terms, if required by law, or if continuing to provide the Service to you would expose us to liability. Where practical and lawful, we will give notice.

On termination, your right to use the Service ends. Sections that by their nature should survive, including rights in output, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnity, and governing law, survive termination.

16.Disputes

Before starting formal proceedings, you agree to contact us at tylercurrier@currier-media.com and attempt in good faith to resolve the dispute informally for at least 30 days.

To the extent permitted by law, you and we each agree to bring claims only in an individual capacity, and not as a plaintiff or class member in any purported class, collective, or representative proceeding. This does not apply where such a waiver is unenforceable in your jurisdiction.

17.Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the province or territory of Canada in which Currier Media Inc. maintains its registered office, and the federal laws of Canada applicable there, without regard to conflict of law rules.

You and we submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of that province or territory, except that either party may seek injunctive relief in any court of competent jurisdiction. Nothing in this section deprives you of the protection of mandatory consumer law in your country of residence, or of the right to bring proceedings in your local courts where that right cannot be excluded.

18.General

These terms, together with our Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Service and supersede any prior agreements on that subject.

If any provision is found unenforceable, it will be limited or removed to the minimum extent necessary and the remaining provisions remain in force. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it.

You may not assign these terms without our written consent. We may assign them, including in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, on notice to you.

We are not liable for any failure or delay caused by events beyond our reasonable control, including outages at third-party providers, network failures, acts of government, or natural events.

You may not use the Service if you are subject to sanctions, or located in a country subject to an embargo, that would make your use unlawful.

We may update these terms. If a change materially affects your rights we will give notice by email or in the Service before it takes effect. Continuing to use the Service after that means you accept the updated terms. The date at the top of this page always reflects the current version.

Questions or notices under these terms can be sent to tylercurrier@currier-media.com.
